ACADEMICS

Classical Christian education is the pursuit of wisdom and virtue by means of a
rich and ordered course of study grounded in the liberal arts.

It is a time-tested system that fills students with a biblical world and life view, incorporates methods based on natural phases of child development, cultivates Christian virtue, trains students in reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric), and engages children in “the great conversation” through the historical Great Books.

A Christian Paideia

Once you learn about classical, Christian education, you won't want to stop. It's a lifelong journey for your whole family, a rich cultural journey where you all will encounter the Truth and wisdom of Scripture.

The Trivium

In 1947, British author Dorothy Sayers gave a speech suggesting that academic instruction should mirror a child's development and the classical Trivium.

Grammar

Our youngest students (K-6) are gifted in memorizing facts, rules, and the building blocks of language, history, music, and just about everything else.

Logic and Rhetoric

Logic (7-9) and Rhetoric (10-12) students craft specific arguments, debate relevant topics, compose eloquent speeches, read primary sources, challenge their own thoughts, and produce original work.

Of course, we have to mention Latin!

NCCS students begin taking Latin in 3rd grade and continue through 9th grade, which means they're then ready to study Spanish beginning in the 10th grade.
